FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee to Launch Copa del Sol Community Tournament on Miami Beach

Three-Day Community Tournament at Lummus Park Will Bring Together Youth, Fans, and Local Communities Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™

MIAMI, FL (May 20, 2026) — The FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee today announced the launch of Copa del Sol, a three-day community soccer tournament taking place June 5–7 at Lummus Park between 9th and 10th Street on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach as part of the Host Committee’s ONE GAME ONE PASSION community programming leading into the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Developed by the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee and its community and commercial partners, and produced by Street Soccer USA with official registration platform Plei, Copa del Sol will bring together more than 160 teams, including youth teams from across Miami-Dade County and South Florida, for a fast-paced, small-sided tournament featuring youth, women’s, competitive, and open divisions.

Held directly on Miami Beach at Lummus Park, Copa del Sol will feature a 4v4 mini-pitch format with high-scoring 15-minute matches designed to create an accessible and community-focused soccer experience during the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

As Miami prepares to be one of the Host Cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, initiatives like Copa del Sol reflect the Host Committee’s ongoing commitment to engaging communities across the region through culturally relevant and accessible programming that extends beyond the matches themselves.

Throughout the weekend, the tournament will feature community programming, an influencer opening match on Friday, a featured influencer match on Saturday evening, youth participation opportunities, and fan engagement moments designed to celebrate Miami’s diverse soccer culture ahead of the tournament.

A Guinness World Records™ freestyle soccer activation is scheduled to take place on Saturday at 12:30 PM, bringing together freestyle soccer participants from more than 30 locations worldwide in an effort to establish a new global participation record.

"Copa del Sol reflects the energy, diversity, and passion for soccer that exists across our communities," said Rodney Barreto, Co-Chair of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee. "As Miami prepares to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, initiatives like this create opportunities for residents, youth, and visitors to come together and celebrate the game throughout the region."

"Miami is one of the world's epicenters of the sport," said Lawrence Cann, Founder and CEO of Street Soccer USA. "The event will be a celebration of that community that will live on as an annual legacy of this year's World Cup."

Produced in partnership with the City of Miami Beach, Copa del Sol is part of the Host Committee’s broader ONE GAME ONE PASSION programming focused on community engagement, accessibility, and regional participation during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Community and commercial partners supporting the event include Telemundo 51, Hard Rock, University of Miami, Coca-Cola, and Florida Power & Light.
