From the DMV to Miami
Javi Rodriguez, known by his artist name JVVI, grew up in the DC-Virginia area with two constants: soccer and music. The game shaped him early, teaching him discipline, identity, and what it meant to compete. Music gave him a way to express everything else, the culture, the emotion, the stories that don't fit neatly into words.
For a long time, both worlds ran parallel. Then life got in the way.
Finding His Way Back
After losing his college soccer scholarship, the game faded from his daily routine. Years passed. Work. Music. Forward motion. But something was missing, and he didn't fully understand what until he landed in Miami and a friend told him to download Plei.
One game turned into many. Many turned into over 90.
What started as a way to get back on the pitch became something much bigger. Plei gave Javi a community in a new city, different cultures, different backgrounds, all connected by the same love for the game. On hard days, he'd play. On good days, he'd still play. Soccer became his reset button, and Plei was where he kept showing up.
Two Worlds, One Rhythm
The more he played, the more the two worlds started bleeding into each other. Soccer and music create the same feeling for Javi: energy, rhythm, passion, and healing. So when he jokingly asked Plei to sponsor him on Instagram, nobody expected it to turn into a real project.
But it did.
The Making of GOL!
After months of collaborating with producers and artists connected to major labels, Javi completed "GOL!", an anthem built for the beautiful game and the community that surrounds it. Released on January 30th, it is now the official Plei App anthem.
This one is personal. It's for everyone he balled with on snow days, for the coaches who believed in him, and for the ones who said he wasn't good enough. For his dad, who taught him how to play, and his mom, who let him stay out until the street lights came on. For anyone who's ever had a dream and wasn't sure if the timing was right.
